Installation and Commissioning Engineer - Mechanical Machine Build

Build, test and bring machines to life — in the UK and across the world
We’re looking for an Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join a specialist engineering business, working on bespoke machinery from build through to customer handover. This is a predominantly factory-based role (approx. 75%), with regular opportunities to travel and commission machines on-site.
Salary range - £55,000 to £65,000 per annum DOE
Factory-Based Responsibilities (Approx. 75%)
Prepare and carry out QA checks on sub-assemblies, machines, and production lines
Test and validate machinery against quality and customer specifications
Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with customers
Decommission machines ready for shipping
Support customer queries and after-sales issues
Deliver machine demonstrations and trials
Site Responsibilities
Install and commission machinery at customer sites
Set up, align, and integrate machines
Perform SAT, on-site fault finding and troubleshooting
Train customers on machine operation
Ensure compliance with safety standards
Travel Requirements
Typically one trip per month of either;
1–2 days (UK/Europe)
1 week (Europe or further afield)
2–3 weeks (long haul)
Occasional longer trips (up to 5–6 weeks). All travel and expenses covered.
Requirements
Essential
Mechanical assembly / machine build experience
ONC/HNC or degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Ability to read engineering drawings
Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems
Experience in testing, commissioning and fault finding
Comfortable working with customers
Personal Attributes
Detail-oriented and organised
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Strong problem-solver
Flexible and adaptable
Confident communicator

Salary range £35,000 to £43,000 dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed from the outset
37.5 hour working week, Friday finish at 1.30pm for production teams
